This past Tuesday, December 20th 2022, UNVI has attended the III Galician Innovation and Design Awards, being the winner in the “Design – Company” category and finalist in the “Innovation – Large Company” category. They are awards organized by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN) and the Xunta de Galicia (Regional Government), both represented by Mr Francisco Conde, First Vice President and Minister of Industry and Innovation in Galicia, and Mrs Patricia Argerey, GAIN’s Directrice.
During the event it was shown the great talent in the fields of innovation and design that Galicia generates from within and that it exports, both at the professional level who have succeed abroad as well as the companies’ exports
The award was collected by the UNVI team, represented by the Director of Engineering, Eva Legido, the Engineering Director Deputy, Miguel Outeiriño, the Product Manager, Andrés Caride, and the Commercial Director, Carlos Rivo.
In the speech we recall our firm commitment to design with a concept of a modular bus range, reflecting the identity of our company. We understand design as a duty of adaptability to the population, the ecosystem and the need for a new mobility model.
We mention all the support of the Pérez Rumbao Group to which we belong, and that this 2022 we celebrate the Centenary, firmly supporting UNVI as a generator of innovation, design and development of buses. This was clearly backed by the former Group Pérez Rumbao’s presidents Mr. Emilio Pérez Nieto and Mr. José Ramón Pérez Nieto.
Finally, we remember the great contribution of our colleague Iago Álvarez, who suddenly left us this year, and who contributed greatly to the design of this family of products for which we have been awarded, as well as the electric bus project.

UNVI, a bodybuilder belonging to the Pérez Rumbao family group from Ourense (family group which celebrates its first 100 years this year 2022) has received the visit of Mr. Gonzalo Pérez Jácome, Mayor – President of the City Hall of Ourense, on September 19th, to see the development of the manufacture of the buses and their concern for them to be delivered as quickly as possible, so that the citizens of Ourense have the most modern buses at their service as soon as possible to the city.
UNVI employs around 300 people between the two production plants, the main one located in Ourense where the Headquarters are also located, and from where the Vilanova de Gaia plant in Portugal is also supported. This enables a capacity of more than 400 buses per year.
UNVI has also been a manufacturer of electric buses since 2016, when the electric bus project began, of which 30 units have already been delivered to the main cities of Europe: Paris, London, Brussels, Amsterdam and recently in Oslo. Current orders for electric buses exceed 40 units.
Ourense will soon become the first Galician city (Ourense is located in Northwest corner in Spain) to have 100% electric buses in its urban bus fleet, with zero emissions and maximum comfort for both drivers and citizens.
UNVI has already body-built more than 700 urban buses on several continents.

UNVI C21 and eC22 Electric

The UNVI eC22 electric bus has been completely designed, developed, industrialized, manufactured and programmed in Ourense, with proven reliability.
There are currently only 2 manufacturers of electric urban buses in Spain, but UNVI is the only one capable of making tourist and suburban electric double-deck buses, as well as urban buses from 7 to 12 m, giving cities flexibility to meet their needs.
This commitment to innovation and development consolidates employment in Ourense, quality industrial employment, consolidating technological know-how and local added value.

The buses have the highest technology, the most efficient powertrain in the market, reducing the carbon footprint, with zero emissions during operation, with increased comfort for passengers and drivers, as well as for other citizens due to the absence of noise and fumes.
The main characteristics of the UNVI eC22 electric buses are:
a. State-of-the-art security systems for passengers, drivers and pedestrians:
1. Driver assistance systems with cameras to alert pedestrians, bicycles, blind spot warnings
b. Camera surveillance systems
c. Fire detection and extinguishing system
b.12-inch TFT screen for the driver, with the possibility of configuring for several languages, reporting the driver’s degree of eco-efficient driving instantly.
c. Adaptive regenerative braking of up to 50% recovery to the batteries
d. Combined braking by brake pedal and retarder lever on the steering wheel, improving driver ergonomics
e. In-wheel motors, without transmission, of maximum efficiency, the most modern in the market
f. Maximum power of 400 kW or 544 CV, the most powerful on the market
g. State-of-the-art batteries, from BMZ Group, with controlled cooling for greater durability and safety
h. Nominal battery energy capacity of 434 kWh with 6 packs of BMZ Magnus +.
i. Over 16-hour autonomy with a single overnight charge
j. 100% electric air conditioning system by reversible heat pump, the most efficient on the market, using heat to cool electrical equipment such as motors and batteries
